Bandon-by-the-Sea is a little jewel, with an old town full of fascinating shops, eateries and galleries, and the justly famous Beach Loop Drive, where the rock formations add spice to the lovely views and there are multiple beach accesses. Try a walk through safari at the famous West Coast Game Park. Kids love the petting area and the tiny goats that wander in among the people. If you’re a golfer, look no further for your fun. Just South of Bandon, at the Curry County line begins the famous “America’s Wild River’s Coast”, a stretch of some of the most beautiful countryside in the world, fed by crystal rivers, and rimmed by golden beaches. Visit Cape Blanco Lighthouse, and the historic Hughes House at Oregon’s most westerly point. Just south of the lighthouse, Port Orford, still a sleepy little fishing village, is the oldest, and most westerly townsite on Oregon’s Coast. Here you will find history in the form of small museums, art galleries tucked in every nook and corner, and miles of uncrowded beaches for some of the best beachcombing anywhere.

Continue down towards Gold Beach, halfway between Port Orford and Gold Beach you will find the Prehistoric Gardens tucked into Oregon’s rain forest and featuring full sized “scientifically correct” representations of prehistoric animals! At the southern end of the Oregon Coast, you will find Brookings. With all the amenities, and a warm mild climate, the area is famous for growing Easter Lilies and in the late spring a visit to Azalea Park is a treat. Brookings boast some lovely beaches and parks and is attracting a growing population of retirees.
