Central Oregon Coast Attractions
The Central Oregon Coast offers attractions and spectacular scenery galore! A few highlights?
Lincoln City – Go kite flying or beach-combing on the miles and miles of beach in Lincoln City. Try a few of their fabulous restaurants notably Kyllo’s right on the beach at the D River Wayside. Drop in a crab pot down in Taft at the Taft dock on 51st street. Lincoln City also hosts the Chinook Winds Casino for those looking for a little sophisticated fun and great entertainment.
Depoe Bay – Charter a fishing boat or go whale watching in darling Depoe Bay (try the Tradewinds Charters or Dockside Charters. When you get back try stroll around the tiny town and visit the marvelous shops and the spouting horn on the main street oceanside.
Newport – Not to be missed in Newport is the Newport Bay Aquarium
and, in the same area, the Hatfield Marine Science Center. On the other side of the bridge visit the quaint and interesting bayfront with galleries, restaurants, boat tours and, notably, Mariners Square with the kid pleasing Ripley’s Believe it or Not, The Wax Works, and the Undersea Gardens. .
Waldport and Yachats, close enough to together to be considered one destination, and close to Newport for easy day trips, offer uncrowded beaches, fun, food and rockin’ gathering spots – like the Landmark – famous for great live music. Here you will find a little bit of the untamed coast, with a lot of good times.
Between Yachats and Florence, The Heceta Head Lighthouse is a beautiful stop and Cape Perpetua begs you to come for a hike or a picnic.
Florence down to Winchester Bay you will find the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area and unspoiled lakes and rivers. Boating, fishing, and four wheelin’ the dunes on ATV’s are examples of some of the great recreation on offer here. Florence old town offers great restaurants and shops too.
Photo opportunites abound on the Central Coast and day trips around the area are an easy drive.
